Cristhian Mosquera received the distinction for sporting merit on Wednesday 9 October at the Palau de la Generalitat Valenciana for his gold medal at the last Olympic Games in Paris.
The Alicante-born Valencia CF centre-back received this award for his sporting success at the Olympic Games along with Abel Ruiz, the Girona FC striker from Almussafes, on 9 October, the day of the Valencian Community. His father collected Cristhian's award, as the Valencia CF defender is currently training with the Spanish Under-21 national team.
Cristhian Mosquera won Olympic gold with the Spanish national team last summer after establishing himself in the Valencia CF first team last season under Rubén Baraja.
The centre-back, trained at the VCF Academy, is still in the running to win the Golden Boy 2024 and the Football Draft 2024 Award, which rewards the best Spanish youth player.
